In 2025, the global market for fans is experiencing a remarkable upswing, mainly due to extreme heatwaves hitting numerous regions across the globe. As temperatures keep rising, the demand for cooling devices, especially fans, has become insatiable in both established and emerging markets.

According to recent data from customs and online trading platforms, China, a major player in the global fan manufacturing and export industry, has witnessed a substantial surge in fan exports. In the first four months of 2025, the export volume of electric fans from China reached 293.66 million units, surging by 23.5% year-on-year, as per the database of the China Business Industry Research Institute. In terms of value, during the same period, the export value of electric fans from China amounted to 3.1439 billion US dollars, showing an 11.3% growth year-on-year.

Looking at the broader picture, the global fan market is projected to reach 9.08 billion US dollars in 2025, as per the in-depth research by DIResearch. Although it's estimated to decline to 7.973 billion US dollars by 2032, with an annual compound growth rate (CAGR) of -1.84% from 2025 - 2032, the current demand remains strong.

One of the prominent trends in the fan export market is the high demand for portable fans. With the rise of outdoor activities and the need for personal cooling solutions, portable fans, such as handheld, clip-on, and wearable fans, have become extremely popular. In the first quarter of 2025, in Zhejiang Ningbo's Cixi, known as the "Home Appliance Capital", the export value of electric fans reached 740 million yuan, registering a growth of 38.2%, as reported by Cixi Customs. Countries in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and South America are among the top importers of portable fans. For instance, in Southeast Asian countries like Indonesia and Thailand, the demand for portable fans has increased by over 30% compared to last year, mainly due to their hot and humid climates and the active lifestyle of the local population.

Another trend is the growing preference for energy-efficient fans. As environmental concerns and energy costs gain more attention globally, energy-efficient fans with features like low power consumption, smart speed control, and long battery life are in high demand. European and North American markets are leading the way in this regard. The global market for energy-efficient fans is expected to grow significantly in the coming years, with consumers in these regions willing to pay a premium for products that can help reduce their energy bills and carbon footprint.

Moreover, technological advancements have also led to the development of smart fans that can be controlled via mobile apps or voice assistants. These smart fans are gradually making their mark in the international market, especially in developed economies where consumers are more tech-savvy. In 2025, the market share of smart fans is expected to increase by 15% compared to the previous year, as more manufacturers invest in research and development to bring these innovative products to the market.

In terms of export destinations, apart from traditional markets like the United States, Europe, and Japan, emerging economies in Africa and South Asia are also showing great potential. In Africa, countries such as Nigeria, South Africa, and Kenya are experiencing a boom in the demand for fans as their economies grow and living standards improve. In South Asia, India and Pakistan are major importers, with their large populations and hot climates driving the need for cooling products. In the first quarter of 2025, Cixi's exports to Africa grew by a staggering 45%, indicating the strong potential in this emerging market.

To meet this increasing global demand, Chinese manufacturers are ramping up production and investing in research and development. Many factories are expanding their production lines, adopting advanced manufacturing technologies, and collaborating with international partners to ensure a steady supply of high-quality fans. Additionally, they are also focusing on improving product quality, enhancing after-sales services, and optimizing logistics to reduce delivery times.

In conclusion, the fan export market in 2025 is booming, presenting great opportunities for Chinese exporters. With the continuous rise in global temperatures and the evolving consumer demands, the fan industry is expected to maintain its growth momentum in the coming years. By staying ahead in innovation, quality, and market responsiveness, Chinese fan manufacturers are well-positioned to further expand their share in the global market.
